Imagine a Gadget...

An E-reading device that:
  • is huge (8.5x11!), suitable for magazines, newspapers, text books, comic books, and easy reading of literature

  • has a touch screen

  • has an onscreen, touch-screen keyboard for entering notes and marginalia

  • weighs one pound, rest it on your lap in bed, give it to your grandmother loaded with ebooks and the font size turned up...

  • makes the Kindle (one of my favorite gadgets, currently), look like a toy

  • reads dozens of file formats, including your Microsoft Excel and Word documents, for checklists, project management, or basic tablet-based computing

  • is still e-paper, meaning that the battery life could be WEEKS. Literally.

  • uses USB for loading files, (will probably support WiFi before launch)

Very, very cool.

I have to agree that it is really cool, but I am already starting to miss the tactile sensation of paper on my fingers. The Carpul Tunnel I have from typing and my OsteoArthritis kind of prevents me from typing sometimes and even a touch screen isn't always the best (my fingers swell) since I can't get my fingers to work so I can touch the right buttons on them.

I can have a piece of paper of a book in front of me and slide the pages so I can still read.

I am conflicted over these awesome gadgets. I would love a Kindle to read all my books on and if my mood changes I can go to that book without having to be mad that I don't have it with me to refrence or read.

That is deliciously tempting. They need to get the wifi working, of course, but lordy it looks fantastic.

I love that fact that people are excited about a -bigger- gadget for once, instead of some teeny-tiny little thing that's impossible to even type on cause the keys are so small. ;)
